Reading List

This is a compilation of incredible radical political thought. It consists of what I’ve read so far and can recommend. I’ve tried to divide it into categories but it is really difficult because you can’t really separate these theoretical perspectives and most of these thinkers have merged them and I’ve gone ahead and reduced them to single categories. I’m keeping this mainly to books but it also includes some journal articles, adding in all my favorite journal articles seems like too much of a mission right now. Many of these writers also have written journal articles worth reading though.

Jacques Derrida, Philosophy in a Time of Terror

Michel Foucault, Discipline and Punish

Judith Butler and Gayatri Spivak, Who Sings the Nation-State

Edward Said, Orientalism

Frantz Fanon, The Wretched of the Earch

Gayatri Spivak, Can the Subaltern Speak

Karl Marx, Capital Vol 1

Jacques Ranciere, Dissensus: On Politics and Aesthetics

Jacques Ranciere, Hatred of Democracy

Jasbir Puar, Terrorist Assemblages,

Joseph Massad, Desiring Arabs

Judith Butler, Gender Trouble

Judith Butler, Frames of War

Maria Lugones, Heterosexualism and the Modern Colonial Gender System
